Today's plan was to get the living room furniture covered and start painting the ceiling. But as I was wrapping up with the last bug bombs last night, I noticed a leak, drip through the attic (it started raining hard before I left). Since a home warranty was included at the closing, I called in my first incident, first thing in the morning to get the leak looked at.
So the home warranty company dispatches a contractor to take a look at the leak. I spoke to him briefly and described where I think the leak was and then he went up the roof with some kind of sealant and brush in hand to try to address the leak. I highly doubt that his efforts addressed the leak but no one would be able to tell until the next time it rains again. He did leave without charging but I flagged him down and gave him a small tip for his efforts.
Once that was over, I headed back in to move the furniture to the middle of the floor and started covering it with drop cloth since I was going to be painting the ceiling today. This time around, I just did a quick and dirty pass for the ceiling just to freshen it up. It was already painted white so I just put on another layer after a quick clean with a long handle broom then a sponge mop. I was using a standard sized paint roller so it wasn't as efficient but it did the job. The mop handle attached to the paint roller made it much easier than trying to reach up from a step ladder but I also have a telescoping extension pole on order from Amazon that's adjustable and lighter to work with.
The whole process practically took a whole day. From moving furniture to laying down drop cloth, prep work, painting then clean up. I was glad that the ceiling was already the same color and finish that we were planning for it, so I went ahead and started painting without putting down primer first. I also didn't mind getting paint on the walls since they will be painted next. I mean, the over paint on the walls was a flat white so it pretty much acted like a primer for the wall paint, in my opinion.
We'll wrap it up for today and let the ceiling paint dry. Tomorrow, we'll pick up some more supplies so we can continue with the painting.
