Kitchen Faucet Replacement

So the holiday months were behind us, Valentine's Day in a few days, I was thinking that we can get some momentum back in trying to reface our kitchen cabinets, but the house had other plans for me. While preparing for a meal, I pulled up on the spray nozzle when the hose connection inside the cabinet just started spraying water all over the place. After shutting off the water valve, I saw that the hose broke off the diverter connector.

I had no luck finding just the part that I needed in order to get it fixed since the faucet that I had was an older model and parts for it, needed to be special ordered and would take days before it arrived. I didn't have that luxury of time so I decided to just purchase a whole new faucet set from the local hardware store, that had the same footprint as the old one.

The installation was fairly straightforward but the awkward position of getting it done was cumbersome. Had to take a couple of breaks during the process to keep myself from cramping in weird places like my neck.

If you wanted to see a quick summary video of what happened (and what new surprise came after), you can watch it here.

One note for when installing your new faucet, make sure to use plumber's putty to make sure that you have a water tight seal and avoid leaks back into your cabinet. Caulk can be used after the fact but using the putty gives you an extra layer of security against possible water damage in the future. This video from This Old House is a great reference if you need to do this yourself.
