Today is the final floor prep and clean up before the floor contractors come in tomorrow to refinish the floor. It seems like when you least expect it, you'll find some surprise clusters of staples that are still there. For those that the floor scraper couldn't get to, I had to use a flat head screwdriver and needle nose pliers to get them out.
Make sure to wear some work gloves when handling the carpet tack strips. As I mentioned before, they're littered with sharp, rusty tacks all over them.
I also got rid of the two old air conditioners that the previous owner left us. They just made a lot of noise and weren't efficiently cooling the rooms. The large heavy duty contractor trash bags were a big help specially when dealing with heavy and sharp debris.
The floor scraper took care of the bulk of the work. I really appreciate the long handle since it's been a big help on my back.
